Hailstorms devastate gridiron game in progress in Maroochydore

With daily violent storms occurring in the last week, the officiating crews were well prepared to manage game interruptions due to lightning. But, nature delivered an onslaught of a different kind at the Gridiron Queensland playoffs today. at Maroochydore. The players and our officials had left the field at half time of the Colts playoff between the Rhinos and Spartans, when lightning, thunder and hail forced the abandonment of that playoff with the Rhinos declared winners due to their 14-7 lead at half time.
